Disc Spanning

REFLECTOR will automatically record as many discs as required for your dataset, and optimally pack the data so that it requires the smallest number of discs.

File Splitting

Files larger than a piece of media will be split across multiple discs. Split files can be restored without using the Reflector software on any operating system.

Open File System

Discs created are fully readable on all major operating systems: Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and UNIX all files can be read on virtually any platform with CD/DVD drives natively.

File Filters

Define rules to target which data files to include or exclude on a disc.

Scripting

Built in powerful script language allows virtually all features to be accessed with script files. Script recorder will automatically record your actions and play them back.

History

REFLECTOR maintains records of all files and folders that were recorded. History is fully searchable to locate files or folders.

Restore

Files and folders can be restored to their original location or a new location and rebuild the directory structure, split files will be restored automatically, files attributes will be set back into their original condition. REFLECTOR^^S multi-disc restore supports any number of drives for fast file restoration and will automatically check all drives for the correct disc.

Client Pac

Is an optional software application requiring the REFLECTOR Server Edition to be installed on a Primera server network. The Client Pac is designed for users needing the power and functionality of the Server Edition at their desktops. Users can push data files to a Primera server which is especially useful with applications such as video editing, digital imaging or any application where large amounts of data must be moved-off primary storage to free-up capacity for the next job.

Optical technology provides a random access means of writing and reading data just like magnetic disks which makes file retrieval much faster than tape. Optical media is an OPEN solution having industry standards when you consider the pervasiveness of CD & DVD technology it^^s easy to see why a solution like optical makes sense; backing up and archiving to optical media with its low cost, proven reliability and portability to any operating system without unique hardware or software coupled with the added benefit of True WORM media means your data will meet compliance regulations for unalterable data storage. Tape cannot make this claim!

Every tape format is proprietary. Coupled with this is the fact tape drives and media are very expensive with reliability constantly in question it becomes clear why tape is not as pervasive as optical technology. With tape users must insure compatibility of all their systems to write and read a specific data format. This is sometimes impossible when exporting or distributing data outside a user^^s environment. Unlike optical where there is a virtual guarantee that any user will have CD/DVD drives available to read the media.

Optical technology is a True WORM (Write Once Read Many) recording medium, tape is not. With today^^s requirements for multi-year data retention periods and growing regulatory compliancy requirements for Unalterable, Non-erasable storage capabilities, only optical technology meets these requirements as part of its standard attributes, tape does not.
